Individual subscriptions (the Substack model) are unsustainable in the long term unless writers accept that they will ultimately have to settle for micropayments rather than the Netflix-level monthly rates many of them currently expect - the only model with longevity is the one we have here on Medium - a single subscription shared by all relative to engagement (not much different from streaming sites)
