This is a step in the right direction to help readers navigate through the writing that's available. On the whole this is welcome — though I question the prominence given to Life Improvement. Does this give new readers the right impression of what Medium is about?

And there is certainly work to do on the way the database throws up the results from category and sub-category searches, especially when you try and filter it down to stories from 'This week'.

It will be good to see how this page pans out but ultimately Medium's engineers need to develop a more agile story filtering function. This has an old-school, textbook ring to it - which may suit some Medium users, of course.
